Welcome to our 12th edition of our newsletter timed to be available for the matchmaking event which takes place at R+T International fair from February 27th - March 1st, 2018, in Stuttgart.

This is the fifth year that the Enterprise Europe Network is organising an International Brokerage Event during the R+T International fair.

R+T
R+T is the leading international fair for roller shutters, doors/gates and sun protection systems. All important international companies are represented here: from exterior Venetian blinds to awning control systems, from fire protection doors and gates to security equipment. The previous R+T fair was organized in 2015 and the numbers impressively confirmed its position as a leading world trade fair. 888 exhibitors from all corners of the world (2012: 816) showcased themselves and their products and services in 2015 in Stuttgart, resulting in an increase of foreign exhibitors compared to 2012 from 66 to 73 percent. In addition to the big exhibitor countries such as Italy, France and the Netherlands, new countries such as Ireland, Latvia, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and Romania were also represented in 2015. The 59,057 visitors also came from all corners of the globe: They travelled from 131 countries. A total of 54 percent of the visitors came from abroad, 79 percent of them from Europe.

It is exected that the 2018 R+T fair will surpass the number of exhibitors and visitors of the previous edition and thus it is expected that the B2B will also be significantly enhanced in mumbers and quality of meetings. The event will offer the exhibitors and visitors of R+T Stuttgart the opportunity to find new customers, suppliers and cooperation partners, present themselves to visitors and exhibitors in the online catalogue, select the profiles of other participants before the event and meet them during the fair.

This Newsletter is mainly focused on R+T international B2B organized by the Sustainable Construction Sector Group members, but also includes other interesting topics from frequent readers!!

Cité du Centenaire: energy retrofit and neighborhood urban renewal

The energy renovation of 48 apartments in a social housing estate in Montignies-sur-Sambre (Belgium) forms part of the global neighborhood rehabilitation project of "La cité du Centenaire" which is located in the city of Charleroi on the easterly peripheral. This housing estate was designed by the architect Victor Bourgeois in 1957 and was based on the model of a garden city, but over the last decades it had become impoverished and the natural landscape blighted. The area in its original state was comprised of 7 identical buildings each having 4 stories and containing 12 apartments; totaling 84 residential units. There were also two parking structures with 15 garages each.

  LINKS TO OTHER SGS

Cooperation with SG Energy was quite fruitful during 2017. A tangible result of such cooperation was the workshop “Europe’s resource efficiency and clean energy to sustaining SME green economy” co-organised during the annual conference in Tallinn on 20th November 2017 along with SG Energy. This collaboration will continue with the preparation of a good practice related to the workshop and the relevant questionnaire prepared and distributed among the members of the sector groups.

Other cooperation activities regarded exchange of information between some members of the two SGs, especially as far as partner search and potential participation in projects, initiatives or events is concerned.
